Even though I should opt for a protein shake post wod, there are just some days were I just don’t feel like guzzling one down. Here are a few of my favorite protein food alternatives that I like to have instead once in a while. They even make for a great quick snack!

  1. Chunky Monkey shake – 1 medium banana, 1 tbsp. peanut butter, 1c of low fat chocolate milk, 1c ice blended
  2. Nut Butter Boats (aka. Ants on a log)q1
  3. Jerky
  4. Mixed Nuts or Trail Mix
  5. Deli Rollupsq4
  6. Pumpkin Seeds- THEY’RE IN SEASON!
  7. creamsicle protein shake– 1 scoop vanilla protein, 1 c orange juice, 1 c ice blended
  8. Mini Bean-and-cheese Quesadilla- Cook it in a dry nonstick pan until cheese is melted and torilla is lightly browned
  9. Hummus dippersq2
  10. Greek yogurt and granola
  11. Portable cheese platter– string cheese, who wheat crackers and almonds
  12. Classic peanut butter and jelly
  13. Parfait– 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp oats, 2 tbsp berries
  14. Chocolate milk q3
  15. The basic burrito– 1 small whole wheat tortilla, 2 tbsp mashed black beans, 2 tbsp shredded cheddar cheese, 1 tbsp salsa
  16. Protein bites– 1 c oats, 1/3 c honey, 1/2 peanut butter, 1/2 chocolate chips, 1tsp vanilla, 1tbsp chia seeds, 2/3 c coconut flakes, 1/2 c ground flax seed
